If you did make a new year resolution, was it any of the following?
- Get a new job
- Make more money
- Travel more
- Improve your knowledge
- Start a personal development program
- Spend more time with friends and family
- Buy a new car, house or boat
These are just some of what is a very long list. But they all have one thing in common. To achieve any one of them you must first set a goal.
You can’t just make any one of them happen. First you need a goal. A goal is your plan of what you want and how you’re going to get there.
Let’s say you want to travel more. You need to decide where and when you want to go. Why you want to Download images go there, how much it will cost, what you will take with you. What you want to do when you get there. Where you will stay, how you will travel to your destination, and when you plan to return.
So, the New Year resolution of wanting to travel more is just the thought of it, not the actual planning and doing. This is why so many people don’t give their resolutions a second thought. Or they give up on them before they get much further.
They didn’t have a plan. They had not set a goal to help them achieve the success.
Perhaps you want to earn more money this year (who doesn’t!). Have you already gone back to your usual job? Have you already stopped thinking about making extra money because you are back in the same old routine?
How about making this year the year that you actually achieve what you set out to do. New Year, New Goals, New Success – it can be yours. It’s up to YOU to MAKE IT HAPPEN.
We’re not talking major changes here, just small steps put in place that you constantly work at, that make a difference over time.
How many people say they are going to lose weight, sign up to a gym, go once or twice, then quit? If you quit before you even start, what chance have you got?
Everything takes time, which is hard for us to accept when we live in such a spontaneous world. People want things now, they are not prepared to wait or to work for what they want to achieve.
The ones who are prepared to put in the work and see their efforts compound over time are the winners. They are the success stories, and they are the ones who a achieve their resolutions and make them reality.
